Small Business Saturday

Small business Saturday is held on the 1st December 2018 and is away to showcase small shops, retailers, cafes and restaurants all over the country. At such an important time of year for small businesses, it’s is so important that people get out and support them. Small shops in particular are the heart and life blood of towns and cities, they places personality and a uniqueness, without them everywhere would be the same. York has a great independent shopping vibe with some truly amazing and wonderful shops. So get out there and experience them for yourself.

Spotlight on - Edwin

 

1947

The Edwin brand is established in Japan by Mr Tsunemi. With a strong passion for denim, Mr Tsunemi is inspired to import them directly from the United States as no denim is manufactured in Japan.


1947-1951
Domestically manufactured denim is available for the first time in Japan. This product is expensive and of inferior quality compared to its American counterparts.


1951-1961
In 1961 Mr. Tsunemi crafts the first pair of Edwin denim jeans.


1961-1963
Edwin produces the world’s heaviest ringspun denim jean (16oz), featuring the famous three-colour rainbow selvedge, which is still being used today.
